Testimonials:
I just had to
send you a note about an email I received from
Morgan's kindergarten teacher yesterday. Morgan's
kindergarten teacher sent me an email to let me know
that she was so proud that Morgan's reading level
was a 20. She also stated that by the END of first
grade, their reading level must be at an 18. Morgan
has been reading chapter books for over half of the
year now. I was so excited and proud of Morgan, but
knew that the Head Start to Reading program was the
reason she has had this success. I told her teacher
I completely recommend this program to moms before
they enter kindergarten. Kindergarten is such a
monumental starting point in any child's life. It
is filled with fun and so many social challenges for
their age. Taking the courses allowed Morgan to
excel in her studies, which made school even easier,
and also allowed Morgan to help other children that
struggled with reading also. I can say enough about
this program, it's so important and wanted to say
thank you again for starting this years ago.

We
have been so impressed with our daughter's
excitement and ability to read because of these
reading classes. Katelyn will be in the 1st grade
this year and she started Head Start to Reading
before she was in kindergarten. She memorized and
knew her sight words and was able to read short
books. In the beginning, she wasn't excited about
learning new words and strongly used the pictures to
read a book. In kindergarten, they send home short
books throughout the year to read, and she started
to fly through those, so she began reading one level
higher to our excitement, and hers too. The sight
words are so important for the start of school,
which enriched her reading skills and gave her an
advantage so she didn't struggle, like other
children. The last day of kindergarten, her teacher
sent home a list of 1st grade sight words. I gave
it to her, and she was so excited for a challenge,
and she read all of them correctly. I then
realized how important this program is and how it
truly works. I would highly recommend it to all
parents. She completed all 3 courses before
starting kindergarten, and now I am enrolling our 4
year old in the course for the fall. I will be
excited to watch her progress also. Thanks for
taking the time and resources together to help our
children read so successfully!
Thanks,
Beth
Johnson

I can't express how
much we love your class. We can't believe our son
is reading already!!! My mom was visiting at
the beginning of the week and he read her the book
from last week. Then he read the book he
received on Monday to her as well. My mom was
blown away. You can count on seeing his brother
when he gets old enough (a couple years from
now). Thanks for the special and fun way you
teach the kids!!!

My daughter LOVES Head
Start to Reading!!! I was actually a bit emotional
when she sat with me one night and actually read
some of her words. She loves to learn new skills.
Seeing "her words" in stories or on signs has given
her a stronger connection to her environment and has
definitely made her proud of herself. Being a
reading teacher in CFISD for 9 years and working as
a consultant in schools for low performing students,
I can greatly appreciate the value of my daughter
feeling successful with her reading. She has never
felt insecure or intimidated to "try" in her
class...another life long skill I strongly believe
in. She can be a little tough on herself...expecting
her "brain" to get things the first time. I know
with the next step of the program, as well as her
future years as a reader, she will overcome that.
I just wanted to make sure you were reminded of the
value of what ya'll are doing and the pride the
parents feel when their child reads to them. Thanks
again!

My
daughter Connor attended the Head Start to
Reading Program this summer. My neighbor
had raved about it and as a former teacher she
said it made all the difference in her son
starting Kindergarten.
Connor
made tremendous strides in class and I was
amazed at how much she had learned after only
the second class. Mrs. Golden was a
wonderful teacher and Connor talked about
her all the time. I would recommend this
class to anyone that wants their child to get an
advantage. Connor will be enrolled
again next summer. Her Dad and I have
always encouraged her to read and would read to
her and she would make progress but I was not
sure how to put her in the right direction to
grasp the other tools she needed. She
wakes up in the morning and grabs a book first
thing. Her new Kindergarten teacher was
even amazed at how well she could read.
It
is a wonderful class and I am glad it is
available in our area.

My son Wilson began
the Head Start to reading Class this fall and loved
it! He looks forward to Mondays so he can read
with Mrs. Miller. He is proud to show us what
he has learned and usually has a fun story to share
about Mrs. Miller. "Did you know she
likes turtle soup?" "And 'the' makes
her mouth tickle." She sure makes reading
fun!
I am amazed at the
progress he has made in reading and (most
importantly) he has retained all of the sight
words! We are certainly looking forward to the
Next Steps to Reading Class. I know it will
help give him the confidence he needs to enter
kindergarten in the fall. Thank You Mrs.
Miller!

I just wanted to
thank you for the guidance you gave Haley in
the Head Start to Reading class. What you do
with these children is amazing! Before registering
Haley for your class, I'd made many attempts to begin
teaching Haley to read, but she showed little
interest and became impatient with me.
In turn, I must admit, I became impatient
with her. Head Start to Reading made
learning fun for both of us. She came home
after the first class promising to "knock my
socks off," and she definitely kept
that promise. I look forward to seeing her
progress in the Next Steps to Reading class.
We wouldn't miss the opportunity to take any
of the classes you offer. Haley's confidence
is soaring, and my socks are flying!

I
have been so happy
with the Head Start to Reading class. My daughter
can't wait for reading class day. She has fun and
is learning lots of new words. We started
working on sight words last year, but she did not
have the confidence to read them except when we
were looking at the flashcards. Now, she is
constantly pointing the words out. Sometimes, it's
in the newspaper or a book. Other times, we will
be riding down the road and she will see a word on
a billboard. One day I decided to wait in the
waiting room instead of running errands during
class. I was so impressed at how much fun the kids
were having while they were learning. Mrs.
Miller has so many neat ideas to help the children
learn to read. I really like the fact that
they make sentences out of their new words. It
makes them feel like they are reading and not just
memorizing words. I have told all of my friends
about this class and am looking forward to Next
Steps to Reading.
